Eastwood Volunteer Bureau

Eastwood Volunteer Bureau was established in 1978 to promote the work of volunteers throughout the area served by the Bureau - namely Awsworth, Brinsley, Cossall, Eastwood, Giltbrook, Kimberley, Newthorpe, Nuthall,  Watnall and surrounding area;  a population of approximately 39,863 (at 2011).

Mission Statement 

Eastwood Volunteer Bureau enables volunteers to provide a service to the local community through voluntary action, which complements but does not seek to replace the existing statutory services.

Aims

• To facilitate and promote opportunities for voluntary work and activity in the area covered by the Bureau.


• To provide a range of voluntary services which should improve the quality of life of the elderly and other disadvantaged people of the area.

Objectives

• To enable local people to gain satisfaction from undertaking voluntary work, by providing voluntary work opportunities which match their skills and aspirations.


• To undertake the necessary support and training to volunteers to enable them to undertake their voluntary work to the best of their ability


• To maintain a pool of volunteers to undertake voluntary tasks referred to the Bureau.


• To provide a range of social support services to local elderly, disabled and disadvantaged people including transport, befriending  and the provision of food parcels.


• To develop and support local community groups in response to identified needs.


• To provide a high quality professional service which promotes the positive benefits of volunteering and responds to the needs of the community it serves.
